Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced construction of an In-stream Storage project on the Daya River at Basantpur. While, attending the Golden Jublee Celebration of the Shanti Stupa atop Dhauli Hill on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, he announced about the project.
The project is estimated to cost Rs 95 crore for which the tendering process has been started. The in-stream water storage project will be constructed in Basantapur village near Dhauli to reserve water of Daya river. The storage project will provide drinking water facility and irrigation in the nearby areas. This will also help in recharging the groundwater level in the area and attract more tourists to Dhauli with planning of boating facility in future.
