The Cuttack Netaji Bus Terminal (CNBT) was inaugurated for public use by Odisha’s Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, on 16 September 2023.
This significant event marks a crucial milestone in the enhancement of the state’s transportation infrastructure. The CNBT, a state-of-the-art terminal, is set to become a model for the entire nation.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone for this terminal on January 23, 2021, to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Situated on a 12-acre plot owned by the Cuttack Municipal Corporation, this impressive bus terminal boasts a built-up area of 1.18 lakh sq ft, constructed at a cost of 65 crore. It features a three-story terminal building with dedicated bus bays that can accommodate up to 180 buses concurrently. The terminal also provides space for local and Mo Bus services, a bus repair workshop, and parking facilities for both four-wheelers and three-wheelers.
Passengers will have access to a wide range of amenities and services, including ticket counters, a comfortable rest area, cloakroom facilities, a food court, and an e-vehicle charging station. The terminal is equipped with environmentally friendly features like rooftop rainwater harvesting and solar panels. An integrated information management system further enhances the passenger experience. Additionally, the terminal showcases motifs and artwork that depict various aspects of Netaji’s life and contributions to the nation.
Furthermore, the terminal has allocated approximately 2 acres of adjacent land for the development of a commercial complex, which will be executed under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, contributing to the overall growth and economic development of the region.
