In a important meeting, on 15 October 2022, the Odisha Cabinet under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved nine important decisions related to various departments like Skill Development and Technical Education, General Administration and Public Grievance, and Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water.
Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra along with Principal Secretary General Administration and Public Grievance Surendra Kumar disclosed that the tenders for construction of major piped water supply projects in 4 districts were also approved by the cabinet.
The nine proposals are:
1. Two Mega Piped Water Supply projects in Ranapur and Odagaon blocks in Nayagarh district, will benefit people of 107 villages of 36 panchayats in Odagaon and 232 villages of 37 panchayats in Ranapur block. The tender was awarded to KEC International Ltd., the L1 bidder by quoting Rs 395.43 crore. KEC International will execute the project which includes repair and maintenance of the project for five years. The project will be completed within two years.
2. One Mega Piped Water Supply project in Bargarh district got approved. This project will execute in Ambabhona, Bhatil and Sohela blocks of Baragarh district. Around 104 villages in 15 panchayats of Ambabhona block, 84 villages of 16 panchayats of Bhatil block, 128 villages of 27 panchayats will get drinking water facility by the project. The L1 bidder was finalised by the cabinet. (Details Awaited). The project will be completed in two years and with five years of maintenance. The project will entail an investment of Rs 453 crore.
3. Another Piped Water Supply project in Khorda district was approved. The project will benefit people to 110 villages of 17 panchayats in Tangi block, 87 villages of 15 panchayats of Bhubaneswar, 75 villages of 15 panchayats of Balipatana block and 84 villages of 16 panchayats of Balianta blocks. The L1 bidder for the project, NCC Limited was awarded to execute the project which includes maintenance for five years. The project entail an investment of Rs 456 crore and will be completed in two years.
4. A Piped Water Supply project in two blocks, viz., Thuamul Rampur and Koksara in Kalahandi district got approved. Around 90 villages in 14 panchayats of Thuamul Rampur block and 65 villages of 22 panchayats in Koksara block will availed for drinking water supply facility. The tender was awarded to Megha Engineering Ltd, the L1 bidder quoted the project. The investment for the project will be Rs 249 crore. The project will be completed in two years and the bidder will be responsible for five years for repair and maintenance of the project.
5. Cabinet also approved waiver of rent of SDC and SDECs for the period from March, 2020 to October 2020 due to Covid-19
