Jindal Steel & Power to build cargo terminal in Odisha

Naveen Jindal-led Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) will develop a dry cargo terminal in Paradip, Odisha with an investment of Rs 2,392.13 crore.

JSPL has emerged as the highest bidder in response to the tender floated by Paradip Port Trust for construction of a 25 million tone capacity, deep draft, dry bulk cargo terminal at the Western Dock of the port in Odisha. The project is estimated to cost Rs 2,392.13 crore.

JSPL out bids Essar Ports and Navayuga Engineering Company and emerged as the highest bidder for the project.

Earlier, Paradip Port Authority disqualified APSEZ from the tender on March 10. This move came a week after a single-judge Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court upheld the decision by Visakhapatnam Port Authority, also State-owned, to exclude APSEZ from a tender for mechanisation of West Quay Berths 7 and 8 at the port in Visakhapatnam.
