The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is likely to prepare the detailed project report (DPR) for the implementation of a metro rail project in the state soon.
The proposed metro rail network involves construction of metro route through Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Cuttack, and Puri under an SPV namely, Odisha Rail Infrastructure Development Limited (ORIDL), a joint venture of the Odisha government and the Ministry of Railways. The authority received instructions from the State government for preparing the same at the earliest.
The DPR will be prepared for the route connecting Biju Patnaik International Airport to Trishulia in the first phase. The Master Canteen, Vani Vihar, Jaydev Vihar, Chandrasekharpur, Patia, Raghunathpur, and Nandankanan to Trishulia localities would all be covered by the metro rail project.
Earlier, on 01 April 2023, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved the project and green signaled for a go ahead.
