The Union Cabinet on 16 August 2023, approved the third line between Nergundi-Barang and Khurda Road-Vizianagaram covering five districts viz. Bhadrak, Jajpur, Khordha, Cuttack and Ganjam in Odisha and three districts of Andhra Pradesh – Srikakulam, Vizianagaram & Vishakhapatnam.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved total seven projects of the Ministry of Railways with an estimated cost of around Rs 32,500 crore, completely funded by the Central Government. The seven projects span across 35 districts in nine states— Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
