Odisha HLCA approves 12 projects worth Rs 84,919 Crore 

The High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) in its 33rd meeting headed by the CM Naveen Patnaik, approved 12 industrial projects with investment to the tune of Rs 84,918.75 crore. Together these projects would generate employment for 42,281 people in various sectors. 

The projects span across various sectors like Apparel & Textiles, Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia, Steel, Power & Renewable Energy, and Chemical & Petrochemical downstream sectors will be set up in districts including Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kendrapada, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Sambalpur, and Sundargarh.  

The Authority approved Welspun Group’s integrated Textile and Logistics Facility in Cuttack, with an investment of Rs 3,050 crore and employment potential for 20,210 people.  

In the Green Energy sector, approval has been received from proposals for Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia unit of Welspun New Energy Limited in Kendrapada and Sembcorp Green Hydrogen India Private Limited in Gopalpur, Ganjam. Another proposal of ReNew E-Fuels Private Limited also secured approval for Green Hydrogen and Green Methanol manufacturing units in Malkangiri and Rayagada, creating employment for 2,800. 

In the Steel sector, Tata Steel’s project in Dhenkanal and Orissa Metallurgical Industry Private Limited in Jharsuguda received approval. This will create employment opportunities for 3,725 in Dhenkanal and 6,000 individuals in Jharsuguda. BMW Industries Limited’s investment in Kalinganagar was also approved, that will generate employment for 1,950 people. Welspun Corp Limited will invest Rs 3,137 crore in the Steel downstream sector in Sambalpur, generating employment for 3,830 persons. 

In power sector, NTPC Limited secured approval for setting up an 800 MW super thermal power plant in Sundergarh, with an investment of Rs 9,208.36 crore. The project will provide employment opportunities for 1,366 individuals. Another project of Ind Barath Energy Utkal Limited’s investment in a ULTRA Super Critical Coal Fired Thermal Power Project in Jharsuguda is also approved by the Authority, which will employ 450 people. 

In the Cement sector, proposal of Orissa Metallurgical Industry Pvt Ltd’s 1 million tpa cement grinding unit in Jharsuguda was approved. The company also given approval for setting up a 2 million tpa steel plant along with a 240 MW captive power plant in the same location. The cumulative investment for the projects will be around Rs 5,200 crore that will generate employment to around 6,000 persons. 

The Chemical & Petrochemical downstream sector, approvals form Aegis Vopak’s plan for a Greenfield Tank Storage Facility in Gopalpur, Ganjam, with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore and which has employment potential for 100 persons.
