NLC receives power allocation order for Ghatampur, Talabira Power Project

NLC India has received a power allocation order from the Ministry of Power for its Ghatampur and Talabira power projects in Uttar Pradesh and Odisha on 16 February 2022

NLC through its Joint Venture Company Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power (NUPPL) is setting up a 1,980 (3×660) MW coal-based thermal power project at Ghatampur, Uttar Pradesh for which the entire power has been tied up with UP and Assam after allocation order issued by Ministry of Power. The project work is going on and the Unit-I of the project with capacity of 660 MW will be operational by July 2023.

NLC is also setting up another coal-based pit head thermal power project of 2,400 (3×800) MW at Talabira, Jharsuguda district of Odisha for which the entire power has been tied up with Tamil Nadu, Union Territory of Pondicherry, Kerala, and Odisha. For the Talabira project administrative approval for acquisition of private land was received from the Government of Odisha. The environmental clearance was obtained on 02 February 2021. In January 2023, single EPC tender was opened and evaluation under progress.
