Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited (SMEL) is embarking on an ambitious initiative to establish a 50 MW Captive Floating Solar Power Project in Odisha, aiming to become a first metal-producing company with a significantly reduced carbon footprint, underscoring their steadfast commitment to the environment.
With a dedicated budget of Rs 450 crores, SMEL is all set to launch its Captive Green Energy Project, incorporating a Floating Solar Generation capacity of 50 MW (72 MWp dc) at the Hirakud reservoir. In pursuit of this transformative project, SMEL has made a request to the state government for the allocation of 250 acres of land within the Hirakud reservoir area, providing favorable conditions for the development of the solar power facility, and ensuring seamless grid connectivity for efficient power distribution.
Furthermore, SMEL has expressed its desire to install solar lighting at the revered Jagannath temple in Puri, highlighting the company’s commitment to contributing positively to the region’s cultural heritage and promoting eco-friendly practices.
