Odisha, Andhra Pradeh sign MoU for Joint Hydro power projects

Odisha and Andhra Pradesh jointly planning to develop hydro electric power projects with an agreegate capacity of 98 MW on the upstream and downstream of Machkund project in Koraput district. The two states signed an MoU in Bhubaneswar on 09 July 2023 on Machkund hydro electric (joint) scheme.

The two states have agreed to implement the construction of three new projects with an aggregate capacity of 98 MW on the upstream and downstream of Machkund project. Both states will form an internal committee to study on sharing of employees in 50:50 ratio between AP Genco and OHPC and submit a report within 30 days.

The Odisha government has agreed to look into the matter for waiver of electricity duty levy on auxiliary consumption in Machkund hydroelectric joint project. Reconciliation of accounts would be taken up by involving AGs (auditor general) of both states. The two states have also agreed to adjust the under/over drawl power through mutual consensus.
