Clearances for JSW Utkal Steel’s project at Paradip

The Central Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) has cleared the proposal of transfer of forest clearance of land acquired for POSCO, to the Sajjan Jindal led JSW Utkal Steel Limited for setting up an integrated steel plant near Paradip.

The Central forest advisory committee (FAC) of the MoEF approved the transfer of forest clearance for 1,083.69-hectare forest area (out of 1,253.225 ha) in favour of new user agency JSW Utkal Steel Limited from POSCO-India Pvt Ltd. The balance forest land of 169.53 hectares shall be returned to the forest department.

JSW Utkal Steel is proposed to set up an integrated steel plant with a capacity of 12 million tonne per annum in the land granted to POSCO.
