Odisha receives 145 proposals worth more than Rs 7 lakh crore

The Odisha Government has received 145 investment proposals on 01 December 2022, in the Make in Odisha Conclave 2022 in Bhubaneswar.

The Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik signed 21 MoUs with various companies during the conclave. The proposals amount to the tune of Rs 7,26,128,45 crore, on implementation, will generate employment for 3.20 lakh people.

JSW Group chairman announced investment of Rs 1 lakh crore in the state in various sectors. The investment will be made in setting up a mega Greenfield steel plant in Paradip, a silicon facility for manufacture of solar panels and in renewable energy and many other areas.

Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd has already invested Rs 7,600 crore in the LNG Terminal, Dhamra Port and other mining projects in Odisha and is planning to invest more than Rs 60,000 crore in the next ten years. The company announced, the 5 million tonne-LNG Terminal in Dhamra is commission soon which entails an investment of Rs 5,200 crore.

Vedanta Ltd Chairman Anil Agarwal will pump in Rs 80,000 crore investment in the state and set to invest another Rs 25,000 crore in proposed aluminium park at Jharsuguda. ArcelorMittal, in JV (joint venture) with Nippon Steel, will set up a 24-million tonne plant in Odisha. Tata Steel Ltd is planning to double its capacity in Odisha. Essar is planning to invest in setting up several projects worth Rs 52,000 crore in the state. The company plans to build a 7.5 million tonne per annum crude to petrochemical complex (CTC) involving an investment of around Rs 40,000 crore.

Meanwhile, the state government had unveiled ‘Renewable Energy Policy 2022’ during the programme.
