The Kanpur irrigation project in Keonjhar district is likely to be completed by June 2023 and its reservoir will be used to store the excess water in the monsoon.
In a recent visit to the project site, the chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra reviewed the progress and directed to the concerned officials to speed up the works and complete on time. With this, 4 large irrigation projects will be completed and around 2,200 hectare if crop land irrigated for the benefit of the farmers.
He also directed the National Highway authorities to complete the three-lane work on the bridge being constructed downstream of the project by February and make it usable for vehicular traffic. He also visited the construction site of Rourkela-Keonjhar National Highway on Rajmundaru to Rimili stretch and flyover on Joda-Bamaberi road. He ensured all issues concerning the project have been resolved and it will complete by October 2023.
