CM Naveen Patnaik inaugurated a Tea Packaging Unit of Tata Consumer Products Ltd. at Gopalpur Industrial Park in Ganjam district of Odisha on 22 July 2021.
The packaging unit will be the largest supply chain in the entire south and central India, commissioned within 18 months. The project entailed an investment of Rs 100 crore will provide employment to 900 persons.
The unit has a production capacity of 15 million kg of tea at present, while the capacity will be augmented to 50 million kg later. The tea packaging unit will cater to the states pf Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, besides central Indian states.
The unit will be functioned by Amalgamated Plantations, an associate company of Tata Consumer Products.
