On 19th July 2023, Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, marked a significant milestone by inaugurating 8 Extra High Voltage Grid Substations in 8 districts of the state. Through video conferencing, the inauguration ceremony was conducted, and these grid substations, located in various key areas, are expected to bring about a positive impact on the lives of 2 lakh 20 thousand consumers.
The state government’s investment of Rs 650 crore demonstrates its commitment to enhancing the power infrastructure and ensuring a stable and efficient power supply across the regions.
The strategic locations for these 8 grid substations are Meramundali in Angul, Kantabada in Khurda, Boriguma in Koraput, Lakhanpur in Jharsuguda, Kumarmunda in Sundargarh, Bamra in Sambalpur, Bhatli in Bargarh, and Bhadrak. By spreading these substations across different districts, the state aims to distribute electricity more evenly and improve the overall reliability of the power grid.
With the inauguration of these Grid substations, the state anticipates significant benefits for the people. The enhanced power infrastructure will result in improved electricity distribution and reduced instances of power outages.
