As many as 1,000 cold storage facilities are likely to be set up in Odisha. This was unveiled by the Department Secretary Arabind Padhee at the Krushi Odisha 2023 event in Bhubaneswar.
The capacity of each facilities will be 10-15 metric tonnes. These storage facilities will be powered by solar energy. The state Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the event on 16 February 2023.
The state is focusing on four aspects for development of agriculture sector. First one is crop diversification which is cultivation of crops other than paddy. Second one is agriculture mechanization– use of farming machinery. Thirdly, importance is being given to allied sectors like horticulture, animal resources and fishery. And finally, the creation of agriculture entrepreneurship to bring a revolutionary change in the sector.

“Efforts are on to improve output with farm mechanization. Special programmes like Jackfruit Mission and Mushroom Mission are being undertaken to better the income of farmers. Our Millet Mission has drawn the attention of the country as well as world,”
