The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has invited bids for the four-lane coastal highway in Odisha.
The tenders have been invited under two packages, i.e.,
- Construction of new four-lane coastal highway with paved shoulder from Rameswar (near Tangi) to Puri (0 km to 47.050 km) on hybrid annuity mode (HAM) (Package-I). The estimated cost of the project is Rs 1,436.39 crore.
- Construction of new four-lane coastal road with paved shoulder from Puri to Kakatpur (47.050 km to 91.600 km) on HAM (Package-II). The estimated cost of the project is Rs 1,297.60 crore.
The initial route of the proposed coastal highway was set from Odisha‘s Gopalpur to Digha in West Bengal. Later, the plan was changed keeping in mind environmental concerns. With the change in scope of the project, the highway will span from Rameshwar (near Tangi) instead of Gopalpur in Ganjam district and end at Ratanpur near Digha. The overall length of the coastal highway project has been reduced from 451 km to 382 km.
The last date for submission of bids is 05 December 2022.
