CM inaugurates two irrigation projects in Mayurbhanj

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated two irrigation projects in Mayurbhanj district on 12 August 2022. 

The two projects estimated to cost Rs 1,508 crore are likely to provide irrigation facility to more than 27,000 hectares of land and will benefit to more than 2.5 lakh farmers in the district. The two projects, viz Deo and Subarnarekha irrigation projects; on Deo river and Subarnerekha river respectively.  

Under the Deo irrigation project, a Dam of 1,280 meters length has been constructed on Deo river at Hatibari of Karanjia block with an investment of Rs 823 crore. This project will irrigate about 10,000 hectares of land and will benefit around 2 lakh persons in about 100 villages of the tribal district. Under the Subarnarekha project, the dam has been constructed on river Subarnarekha with a cost of Rs 685 crore. This will provide irrigation facility to 17,121 hectares of agricultural lands in Mayurbhanj and Balesore district. More than 55,000 farmers from both districts will benefit from the project.
